| The City of Berkeley is accepting applications for a career, benefited, full-time Camp Manager. The incumbent will be responsible for the management of Berkeley Tuolumne Camp (BTC), located near Yosemite National Park in California. This position will entail working in the Recreation Division office in Berkeley from approximately November through April and living on site (where meals & lodging are provided in full) at BTC from approximately May through October. The incumbent will be responsible for the year-round management of BTC including facility operations; program management; staff recruitment, selection, training, and supervision; full-service commercial kitchen and dining hall operations; program administration, cash handling and record keeping; and customer service. About Berkeley Tuolumne Camp Just minutes from the incredible Yosemite National Park, Berkeley Tuolumne Camp provides a unique outdoor environment to offer Family Camp, Youth Resident Camp, Counselor-In-Training programs, Adult Camps, Teen Retreats, and private group rentals. Recreation programming includes special events, sports, games, camp activities, theme days, arts & crafts, music, adult socials, swimming, canoeing, archery, environmental education, and child-care. Berkeley Tuolumne Camp, in operation since 1922, has been a highly regarded summer tradition for generations of campers. More than 4,000 individuals annually enjoyed fun-filled activities and heartfelt traditions at BTC until the camp burned down in 2013. For the past eight years, dedicated staff and campers have kept the heart of BTC alive by bringing a joyful camp community to Berkeley’s Echo Lake Camp. Fast-forward to July 2021 and construction on Berkeley Tuolumne camp is well under way. It is expected to be complete in May 2022, the 100th anniversary of the BTC. The Berkeley Tuolumne Camp Manager will have an amazing opportunity to manage a spectacular new facility, while nurturing valued camp traditions and inviting campers to help create a camp community with new traditions with an intentional focus on diversity, equity and inclusion. |
