Examples of Duties:
1. Community Engagement:
Develop and implement community outreach strategies to build relationships and enhance community involvement.
Organize and facilitate community meetings, forums, and events to gather input and feedback on City programs and initiatives.
Collaborate with local organizations, businesses, and residents to promote City programs and services.
2. Resident Support and Advocacy:
Serve as a primary point of contact for community members seeking assistance or information about City services.
Address and resolve concerns and complaints by coordinating with appropriate City departments and providing timely responses.
Advocate for residents' needs and ensure their voices are heard in city planning and decision-making processes.
3. Program Development and Implementation:
Design and manage programs that address community needs, promote civic engagement, and enhance quality of life.
Monitor program effectiveness and gather data to report on outcomes and impact.
Identify opportunities for new initiatives and partnerships to benefit the community.
4. Communication and Information Dissemination:
Develop and distribute informational materials, newsletters, and updates to keep the community informed about City services, events, and initiatives.
Utilize social media, the City website, and other digital platforms to engage with the community and promote City activities.
Maintain accurate records of community interactions, feedback, and program participation.
5. Collaboration and Coordination:
Work closely with other City departments to ensure a coordinated approach to community services and problem-solving.
Participate in inter-departmental teams and task forces to address issues affecting the community.
Represent the City at public meetings, community events, and other forums as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Public Administration, Social Work, Urban Planning, or a related field; AND
A minimum of three years of experience working community outreach, public engagement, or a related area.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
Experience working in local government or a similar public sector environment.
Knowledge of the specific community dynamics of Greenville, N.C.
Special Requirements:
Valid North Carolina drivers license
Available to attend night and weekend meetings and community events across the City on a regular basis as needed.
