A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field and eight years of progressively responsible general management, finance, human resources, contract administration, capital improvement projects and related programs experience including three years of management and administrative responsibility; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A master’s degree in public administration is desirable. The annual salary range for the Assistant City Manager is $213,000 to $277,368; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
