The Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) is seeking an innovative, creative, and ambitious individual to serve as the Equity Project Manager for the Institute for Livable and Equitable Communities. The selected candidate will lead implementation of the Work Plan for the Institute for Livable and Equitable Communities and related agency-wide initiatives in collaboration with MVRPC members and strategic partners. The Equity Project Manager will also serve as the Agency’s Title VI leader and expert on diversity, inclusion and equity matters for the staff and board of directors.

The Institute for Livable & Equitable Communities places an intentional focus on livability and equity, launching programs and transforming systems that create a community where all people can thrive. The Institute convenes critical partners and is the central point of coordination for a long-term, multi-faceted effort to address nine domains which together enhance livability and equity in communities: Education; Entrepreneurship, Employment & Volunteering; Engagement; Health & Environment; Housing; Neighborhood; Safety & Justice; Technology & Connectivity; Transportation.

The Equity Project Manager will lead efforts to build a coalition of member organizations and community partners committed to advancing the vision and mission of the Institute. The Equity Project Manager will coordinate research and assemble data; conduct robust community engagement processes; facilitate high-level strategic plans which identify needs, resources and potential actions for each domain; secure grants and alternative funding; leverage the region’s resources for collective impact; and create opportunities for communities and organizations to implement an ever evolving range of aligned strategies and demonstration projects to advance livable & equitable communities throughout the region.

Desired skills and experience: Demonstrate experience driving systemic social change through extensive research, data analytics, robust community engagement and strategic planning; ability to develop collaborative, productive relationships with leaders in key institutions and groups, including those in communities of color, immigrant and refugee communities, local governments, non-profits, business and philanthropy; thorough knowledge of community focus data driven strategies and tactics essential to establishing livable and equitable communities. The successful candidate will have a network of contacts in the Miami Valley, the ability to lead a very large coalition of committees, possess a current valid driver’s license, and attend evening or weekend meetings.

Minimum qualifications include: Six years of progressively responsible experience in a public policy, marketing, sociology, equity, diversity, inclusion. Masters degree preferred. Demonstrate experience with project management, leading a team, convening large diverse groups, and new program development and implementation in the areas of livable and equitable communities.
