Each summer the team opens the doors to their home base for fans to come out and enjoy watching the team during training camp.&#xa0; The city has been working towards revitalizing its historic downtown area, known as &#8216;Old Town.&#8217; Old Town&#8217;s location is unique in that it sits on the shore of Lake Lanier. The City of Flowery Branch has been diligent in preserving its historic features and working towards rehabilitating this area to appeal to families and visitors of all ages.&#xa0; City services are carried out through several departments including:&#xa0; Administration, Finance, Planning, Parks, and Public Works. Within these departments are 59 full-time employees.&#xa0; The General Fund budget is $5.2 million with a Water &#38; Sewer budget of $2.1 million and SPLOST budget of $1.1million.&#xa0;

 The City of Flowery Branch seeks a professional City Manager who is a dedicated team player and can quickly gain the confidence of the community. The right candidate for this position is experienced and ethical, a dedicated leader who possesses the ability to build community trust through the development of partnerships with various stakeholders and other government entities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to embrace change and focus on continuous improvement while guiding the community through challenges. He/she will be expected to articulate a vision of excellence, establish credibility and consistency in delivery of services, and be a creative problem solver and excellent communicator in response to unique opportunities in Flowery Branch. 
 Minimum Qualifications:&#xa0;  
 
 Bachelor&#8217;s degree required in public administration, business administration or related degree from an accredited university. A master&#8217;s degree is highly preferred. 
 A minimum of five years of executive level management experience in local governments of similar size and complexity to the City of Flowery Branch or applicable executive type experience is required. 
 Evidence of continued professional development such as ICMA Credentialed Manager designation, is a positive indicator of dedication to the profession and will be noted during the candidate vetting process. 
 
 Compensation &#38; Benefits: 
 The expected starting salary range for this position is $110,000 &#8211; $140,000 (depending on qualifications of the selected candidate), with a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental and vision insurance options. The city participates in the Georgia Municipal Employees Benefit System (GMEBS) Defined Benefit Retirement Plan for its employees. Participation is mandatory for all eligible employees.&#xa0; The City also offers a generous leave package and life insurance coverage.&#xa0; Relocation expenses negotiable.&#xa0;

The City Commission&#8217;s desired candidates include rising Deputy or Assistant City Managers and current City Managers from comparably sized and demographically situated communities. The successful candidate will be an effective delegator with experience leading empowered subject matter experts and managing a full-service budget comparable to that of Albany. They will demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to be both visionary and deliberative. This individual will be expected to maintain focus on strategic priorities while balancing the needs and interests of the seven-member City Commission, the city&#8217;s workforce, and the broader community. 
 As the county seat for Dougherty County and the largest city in Southwest Georgia, the city is home to Albany State University, a public, historically Black institution (HBCU) with an enrollment of more than 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Albany Technical College and a satellite campus of Troy University also call the city home. Albany also houses the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport (ABY), the administration of which falls under the purview of the City Manager. Albany is located about three hours south of the Georgia State capital of Atlanta and the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL), and two hours north of the Florida State capital of Tallahassee. 
 
 Albany is a full-service city with a proposed FY2022 General Fund budget of $65.3 million and an employee count of approximately 1,100 FTEs. The total budget inclusive of enterprise and special revenue funds is nearly $300 million (proposed FY2022). Approximately half of the budget is utility operations, as Albany has the second-largest electric utility in Georgia and one of the top ten-largest natural gas utilities in the state.

 A high priority facing the next City Manager will be meeting the 2025 sanitary sewer deadline established by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division. The City Commission voted to dedicate the City&#8217;s first round allocation of American Rescue Plan funds toward the project ($10 million). The total projected cost over the next ten years is $105 million.

 Albany is a city rich with history along with many of the current challenges and opportunities that face similar urban communities. With a 73% Black/African-American population and a poverty rate greater than 30%, the next City Manager should possess a commitment to equity and a track record of applying innovative approaches to improve quality of life. Some immediate and longstanding needs in this area include improving the housing stock, enhancing youth and community engagement, and increasing equity in procurement. 
 
 Candidates must possess a bachelor&#8217;s degree, though a master&#8217;s degree and 10 years of progressively responsible management experience in a full-service city is preferred.&#xa0; The salary range is between $150,000 and $200,000+/- DOQ.
