Nature of WorkThe Fire Chief provides leadership and strategic direction for the overall operation and administration of the Rochester Fire Department which includes fire prevention, suppression, investigation, emergency medical services, rescue, hazardous materials, emergency management, budget planning, and employee engagement. Responsibilities are performed with considerable independence under general policy direction from the City Administrator and City Council.  The incumbent is an active participant in the City's Executive Leadership Team and maintains collaborative relationships with the staff of other City departments.
