The City of Albany operates under a commission-manager form of government. The Board of Commissioners is comprised of the Mayor and six Commissioners. Albany’s next Fire Chief will report directly to the City Manager. The Fire Department consists of five divisions and operates 11 fire stations.
The selected candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in fire science, public administration, business, or related field from an accredited institution and must have 10 years of progressively responsible work in fire and EMS services, with at least 5 years of experience in high-ranking command positions. Experience in comparably-sized cities and/or departments is preferred. The candidate must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license or be eligible to obtain one after appointment and must live within the city limits of Albany within one year. The salary range for this position is $76,800 to $110,300 DOQE.
